About Alex Szablya – Counselor

I provide counseling services in the South Lake Union neighborhood regarding the following issues: sudden crisis such as divorce and death, chronic illness, job problems (work stress), grief, loss, depression, aging parents, cultural issues, and marriage preparation. I also have a special interest in sexual issues in committed relationships. I am experienced working with adults.
My experience as a pharmaceutical sales rep gave me an understanding of many of today’s issues related to “better living through chemistry” and their implications in our world. I am an advocate of making sure one has the medications one needs – and once stable on those meds – further growth is attainable through productive conversation. That same career provided me with years of experience in the corporate world. As a result I might have some insight on what you encounter at work as you build your career.
I have been married and widowed. This coupled with parenting two children gives me a perspective that life goes on whether one is prepared or not. My relationships have given me a deep interest in attachment identity. I feel it is best to be prepared in all aspects of our lives, including the emotional side of ourselves. I believe that the here and now is the most important thing in the world, but that sometimes our history gets in the way of our growth.
